Auxetic Meta‐Display: Stretchable Display without Image Distortion

Abstract Mechanical metamaterials possess unusual mechanical properties that cannot be found in nature. Auxetic have negative Poisson's ratios and tend to expand a direction perpendicular the axial extension direction. When ratio of display circuit board is forced −1 by adopting an auxetic metamaterial, can stretchable without image distortion, this called meta‐display study. The critical obstacles implementing are large stretchability, high deformation uniformity, low distortion. overcomes these incorporating micro‐LEDs kirigami‐based board. An with stretchability 24.5%, −1, no distortion under uniaxial stretching demonstrated. Finally, roll transfer process enabled scaling‐up 3‐inch attachable surfaces non‐zero Gaussian curvatures. This conformity curvature helps realize biomedical applications such as wearable display, phototherapy, skincare.
